Privacy Policy

CamScan is a document scanning app for iPhone with a companion website, getcamscan.com (together, the “Service”). This policy explains what data we process, why, where it is stored, and the rights you have, wherever you live.

At a glance

• Without an account, your documents stay only on your phone.
• With an account, they are backed up to the cloud so you can find them on the website and your other devices. Only you can access them.
• Text recognition (OCR) runs on your phone; your images are not sent anywhere for it.
• No ads, no advertising trackers, and we never sell or share your personal information.
• You can delete your documents or your account at any time.

Who we are

The Service is operated by the publisher of CamScan (“we”, “us”), who is the data controller for the personal data described here. You can reach us at contact@getcamscan.com.

Data we collect

• Account: your email address and password (stored only as a one-way hash). If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive the email address and identifier provided by that service — never your password.
• Documents, if you are signed in: images of scanned pages, titles, folders, text recognized on your pages, and editing settings (crop, filters, annotations, placed signatures).
• Technical data: logs kept by our hosting providers (IP address, time of access), used only for security and to keep the Service running.

The app uses your camera and, if you allow it, your photo library only to scan or import the documents you choose. We do not collect your contacts, location, or browsing activity.

How we use it

• To provide the Service: back up your documents and sync them across your devices.
• To manage your account: sign-in, email confirmation, password reset.
• To keep the Service secure and prevent abuse.

We do not use your documents to train AI models, for advertising, or for any purpose other than providing the Service to you. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, our legal bases are the performance of our contract with you (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)) and, for security, our legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)).

Service providers

We rely on the following providers, who process data only on our behalf:

• Supabase: database, accounts, and image storage. Access rules ensure each user can reach only their own documents.
• Vercel: hosting of the getcamscan.com website.
• Infomaniak (Switzerland): domain name and email.
• Resend: delivery of account emails (confirmation, password reset).
• Google and Apple: only if you choose to sign in with them.

International transfers

Your data may be processed in the United States and other countries where our providers operate. When data from the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland is transferred, it is protected by appropriate safeguards such as adequacy decisions, the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework where applicable, or the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.

How long we keep it

• Your documents are kept until you delete them. When you delete a document, page, or folder, its images are removed from the cloud and its content (title, recognized text, edits) is erased immediately.
• When you delete your account, your account and all documents stored in the cloud are permanently deleted. Documents saved on your phone stay there.
• Hosting logs are kept for a limited period by our providers for security purposes.

Cookies

The website only uses cookies that are strictly necessary to keep you signed in and to remember your language. It uses no analytics or advertising cookies.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can:

• download your documents at any time from the website (PDF, images);
• delete documents from the app or the website;
• delete your account in the app: Account tab, “Delete My Account”;
• ask us for access to, correction, or deletion of your data by writing to contact@getcamscan.com.

EEA, UK, and Switzerland: you also have the rights to restriction, objection, and data portability, and you may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

California and other U.S. states with privacy laws: you have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it, to access it, to correct it, to delete it, and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We do not sell or share personal information (including for cross-context behavioral advertising), and we do not use sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about you. You or an authorized agent can make a request at contact@getcamscan.com; we will verify your request and respond within the time required by law.

Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

All connections are encrypted (HTTPS). Images are kept in private storage and are accessible only after signing in.

Changes

We may update this policy. If we make significant changes, we will let you know in the app or by email. The date at the top shows the latest version.
